Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar was always on his top form whenever he played against Australia. He has scored 3077 runs in 71 ODIs and 3630 from 39 Tests against the Aussies including 20 centuries in both formats. His first ODI hundred also came against Australia as he scored 110 runs in 1994 which helped India to defeat Australia by 31 runs.

Sachin’s battles with Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Shane Warne have been always been legendary. Other than that, there is also one Australian bowler who dismissed him five times in 20 ODIs and twice in four Tests. Former Australian pacer Damien Fleming had a unique experience when he was asked to talk about Sachin.

Fleming has appeared in 20 Tests and 88 ODIs for Australia. He funnily said the AI Siri also can’t tell where to bowl to Sachin. Speaking on the documentary ‘Bradman and Tendulkar – The story of two of cricket’s giants,’ Fleming also mentioned about Australia’s tour of India in 1998, where the visitors were ‘Tendulkar-centric’ and were planning to take on Sachin.

‘It was really hard to fool him’ – Fleming

“He was quick to get into position but he was often late to play his shots so it was really hard to fool him,” said the former Aussie pacer

“Siri, where do you bowl to Tendulkar? Didn’t answer, did he? Even Siri doesn’t know where to bowl to Tendulkar,” he further said after he was interrupted by Siri – the AI interface – on his watch.

“I remember on that 1998 tour… we were Tendulkar-centric at that stage. It was nuts. If you were trying to move a fielder, unless they actually looked at you, they could not hear you. When Warne would get the ball, it wasn’t quite as loud as Tendulkar but it was loud. It was just two legends of the game going at each other,” Fleming about the 1998 tour.

It is noted that both the former cricketers from India and Australia share their birthdays on the same date – 24 April. Better referred to as the ‘God of Cricket’, Tendulkar is the highest run-scorer in both Tests and ODIs. The 49-year-old has amassed 15921 runs in 200 Tests including 51 centuries, along with 18426 runs in ODIs including 49 centuries.
