Pakistan skipper Babar Azam faced criticism after his side was clean-swept by England in the three-match Test series recently. Notably, one of the main reasons for the criticism wasn’t the team’s performance. Over the course of the series, he insisted upon his personal performance and how his side ‘dominated’ in the series. After the third Test, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf took to Twitter to defend their skipper.

First of all, the former took to Twitter and posted a message saying that Azam will is the pride of Pakistan. The left-arm pacer added that Babar will remain the skipper of the team. The hashtag SochnaBhiManaHai was used while sending the tweet. However, after Shahid Afridi’s appointment as the interim chief selector, the 2022 PSL winner deleted the tweet.

“Babar Azam hamari or Pakistan ki Shan, jaan or pehchan hai. Wo Hamara kaptaan hai or rahe ga. Kuch or #sochnabhimanah hai (Babar Azam is our’s and Pakistan’s pride, power and identity. He is our captain and will remain so. Don’t even think otherwise),” Shaheen had tweeted after Pakistan’s loss to England in the third Test.

Haris too took to Twitter to write, “You are and will remain our leader. #sochnabemanahai #Respect.”

You guys also back each other: Babar Azam

The Lahore player was asked about the hashtag ahead of the ongoing two-match Test series against New Zealand. He replied by reminding the journalists about how they each other backs and the same was done by Shaheen and Haris.

“Everyone has their own mindset, jis tarah aap log bhi journalist hai, jis tarah saare chezein start kar dete hai and ek dusre ko back karte hai (Just like you journalists tend to start things and then back one another). We players also have the same unity and that is not just for me, that is for the entire team. When the team loses, such things tend to happen. But as a player and a captain, I tend to be in my zone. We lost the last series, but we will definitely make a comeback.”
