Good news awaits the fans of New Zealand. The star cricketer and the regular captain of New Zealand, Kane Williamson, is all set to make his comeback in international cricket against Bangladesh. The reports suggest that Williamson is all set to play the ODI World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, which will be the comeback match of the batter in international cricket.

Williamson was out of cricket for a long time. In the first match of the IPL 2023 between CSK and GT, Kane suffered a thigh injury, which not only ruled him out of the rest of the season but also from cricket for the following 7 months. Kane has not played a match since April 2023. There were reports that Kane would have been ruled out of the ODI World Cup 2023.

The injury of Kane was deemed serious, as it required a long recovery time. But to everyone’s surprise, Williamson started recovering quicker than anticipated. In his home, Kane started to get into grooves. In regular updates, Kane was visibly recovering quickly. As a result, Williamson was deemed available for the ODI World Cup 2023. New Zealand announced Williamson as the captain of the team for the tournament.

Headache of many for New Zealand with the return of Kane Williamson

To ensure a seamless comeback, Williamson was not forced into the side. Although Kane practised a bit against Pakistan during the warmup match, he did not play the first two matches of the tournament against England and the Netherlands respectively. In the absence of Williamson, Tom Latham led New Zealand against England and Netherlands. For the match against Bangladesh, Williamson will return to the side.

Williamson will be back as the captain of New Zealand. It is interesting to see who will be dropped in the presence of Williamson. Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra have been the best batters of New Zealand till now in the tournament. As Kane is a number 3 batter, Ravindra is likely to make way for him. But it is interesting to see if Ravindra will be preferred over Will Young as an opener for the rest of the tournament.
