Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni remembered his 183-run knock at the post-match presentation after CSK lost to RR by 32 runs in match number 37 of IPL 2023 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.

During the post-match presentation, the former India captain said the SMS stadium is close to his heart as he played his career-best innings on this ground against Sri Lanka. He added that his first hundred in Vizag gave him another 10 games, but his knock in Jaipur gave him a chance to play for another year.

“They (the fans) will be chasing me throughout. It’s a very special venue because my first ODI hundred was in Vizag, which gave away maybe 10 games to me (for Team India). But the 183 over here, it ensured I get a chance for another one year. So, it’s a good venue, it’s close to my heart, and it’s good to be back here,” Dhoni said after the match.

RR registered a convincing victory over CSK

The ongoing season of IPL is expected to be the last season for Dhoni in CSK yellow, and the fans are assuming that he made this statement hinting towards his retirement. After the last match against Kolkata Knight Rider, Dhoni also acknowledged the fans at Eden Gardens and said that it looks like they are trying to give him a farewell.

Talking about yesterday’s match, electing to bat first, RR posted a total of 202 for the loss of 5 wickets, powered by a half-century by Yashasvi Jaiswal. The 21-year-old scored 77 runs off 43 balls hitting eight four and four sixes. Apart from that, Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal added the finishing touches as RR go past 200 runs. For CSK, Tushar Deshpande took 2 wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja shared a wicket each.

Chasing the winning total, Ruturaj Gaikwad got out after scoring 47 runs off 29 balls, while Shivam Dube went on to score his third half-century of the season as he scored 52 runs off 33 balls, hitting two fours and four sixes. However, it wasnt enough for CSK as they could only score 170 for 6 in reply to RR’s total. Adam Zampa took 3 wickets for RR, while Ravichandran Ashwin took 2, and Kuldip Yadav put 1 in his bag.
