Manchester United is having a tough time as their season has been on the decline in 2022. In the last three matches against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, the Red Devils have just managed a single point. The only silver lining for United has been their star player Cristiano Ronaldo.

CR7 hasn’t had a season he might have hoped for but still has managed to score a lot of goals. In the 2021-22 season, the Portuguese superstar has scored 17 goals in the Premier League and has often carried the team on his lone shoulders. While having a decent time on the field, he is dealing with emotional turmoil off the field with personal issues. Notably, Ronaldo lost his newborn son a day before the match against Liverpool.

As a result, CR7 missed the match at Anfield, but he came back strong and scored the only goal for his team against Arsenal. The goal against Arsenal was his 100th goal in the Premier League and he dedicated the same to his late son. His wife Georgina Rodriguez shared a picture of CR7’s celebration on her Instagram handle and captioned it with a heart emoji just ahead of Manchester United’s game against Chelsea.

In the match, Ronaldo added to his goal tally as United drew 1-1 against Chelsea at Old Trafford. While speaking about Ronaldo and his performance, the interim manager of the club, Ralf Rangnick said – “Not only the goal Cristiano scored but his whole performance, his attitude at the age of 37, this is not normal to do that.”

If he plays like he did today he can still be a big help to this team. It was a good point for us. In the first half, Chelsea dominated the game. You can see that they have top players and are well organized, and it’s not easy to get hold of them,”- Rangnick added in the post-match conversation.

While speaking about the fighting spirit his team displayed even when they were being outplayed by the opposition, the United manager said- “Of course, we ere missing eight players in total, so we only had 13 players from the professional team available and bearing that in mind, I thought we showed a good attitude, at least in the second half.”

We were also physically better and had more shape and more organization to get more control. It was still far away from controlling and commanding the game, but against a top team like Chelsea, I still think in the second half, I was quite pleased with the performance,”- he further added.
