Delhi Capitals ban guest entry after player misbehaves with woman at the hotel
Whether on and off the pitch, the Delhi Capitals have been going through a difficult time. With just two victories in seven games, they are mired at the last position of the IPL 2023 standings. To make matters worse, they have been dogged by controversy after controversy, even off the field. It has recently come to light that a DC player apparently behaved improperly with a woman at a party, causing the franchise to reach out with rigorous restrictions for all of its squad members, about a week after the kits of their top players were stolen only to be retrieved just a couple of days later.
The Indian Express stated that after their victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, DC released the strict “Code of Conduct” rules for its players. A few days before that, at a franchise party, the player misbehaved with a woman. However, the Code of Conduct makes no mention of the occurrence or provides any information about it. The rules include a key clause prohibiting players from bringing guests to their separate hotel suites after 10 p.m. In the café or common areas of the hotel, they might be able to entertain guests.
According to the article, family members are welcome to travel with a particular player or member of the support staff, but they must first obtain permission from the team in order to bring the guests to the hotel room. The advise further states that any breach could result in a fine or even the termination of the agreement. The action is taken to safeguard the franchise’s reputation.
After suffering loss in five straight games, Delhi Capitals staged a comeback by winning three straight. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by successfully defending their lowest IPL total. After restricting Sunrisers Hyderabad at 137/6 with their 20 overs, the Delhi franchise scored 144/9. The Delhi Capitals were tasked with holding off 13 runs in their last over, and quick Mukesh Kumar made sure that they did so by allowing just five runs to be scored.
