‘Drop KL Rahul now’ – Fans Fume At KL Rahul As He Departs After A Terrible Inning Against Hong Kong

On 31 August 2022, India locked horns with Hong Kong in Dubai for their second match of this year’s Asia Cup. After defeating arch-rivals Pakistan, India was looking to seal their spot in the super four of the tournament. However, the top three batters of India did not have a good evening in their tournament opener. Only Kohli scored 35 runs off 34 balls.

Therefore, it was a good opportunity for them to score some runs ahead of the business end of the tournament. However, Hong Kong won the toss and they opted to bowl first. Hence, India skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to bat first. 

KL Rahul scored 36 runs off 39 balls at a strike rate of 92.30 only

Both batters started the innings well with some glorious shots. On the other hand, Hong Kong qualified for the main stage of this tournament after winning the qualifiers. Hence, it was a great opportunity for them to play against a top nation like India. But, Rohit Sharma failed again to score big. He departed after scoring 21 runs off 13 balls, including two fours and one six.

Then, Virat Kohli came out to bat along with KL Rahul. They both stabled the ship. But, KL Rahul was unable to score at a good pace. He only managed to hit two sixes. Then, he got out on 36 runs off 39 balls. However, fans did not like it at all as they were expecting a better show from this star batter. KL Rahul just made a comeback from injury during the Zimbabwe tour. He failed to score runs in that series. Still, hopes were there that KL Rahul will contribute to India in this event. But, still, he failed to deliver. Hence, fans came out to show their anger on social media platforms. Even, they started to suggest the Indian Board for dropping him for the upcoming matches.
