South Africa is scheduled to kick off their tour of England on 19 July 2022 as both teams are going to play three ODIs, three T20Is, and three Test matches. After losing both the T20I and ODI series against India, England’s new white-ball captain, Jos Buttler will look to win this upcoming series at home ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

On the hand, South Africa started the year on a positive note as they whitewashed India in their backyard. Even, they also drew the T20I series against India while visiting there. But, they also faced defeat in their last ODI series against Bangladesh. Therefore, South Africa will also look to get back on winning momentum by defeating England.

Both the Boards already announced squads for the white-ball format while South Africa announced its squad for the Tests also. England is yet to announce its Test squad to face the Proteas at home. South Africa’s regular captain, Temba Bavuma was ruled out of the action for eight weeks after sustaining an elbow injury during the series against India.

Hence, Keshav Maharaj will lead in ODIs while David Miller will lead in T20Is. Meanwhile, their star batter, the fitness of Quinton de Kock is a concern as he was unable to play the practice game due to a bruised finger. On the other hand, England gave rest to Ben Stokes in the T20Is and called up Matthew Potts to ODIs after his impressive performances in Tests. Adil Rashid also made a surprise comeback to the ODI setup for this upcoming series.
