Fans have to wait longer for Rishabh Pant’s home game as Delhi Capitals will play first two matches away-from-home in IPL 2024
It may take a bit longer than expected for the cricket-loving Delhi Capitals supporters to see ace wicketkeeper-batter and captain Rishabh Pant in action. The wait seems to be longer for Pant’s return to the home ground because the team will play its first two home games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 away from Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Starting on March 22, the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will feature a South Indian derby between the defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Although the team’s captain, Rishabh Pant, is expected to return to action, it is unclear at this time whether the explosive southpaw will also assume leadership responsibilities and put on the keeping gloves.
On March 23, the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will begin their campaigns against one another in a first-ever double-header in Mohali, while the two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their season in Kolkata. The other games DC has scheduled until April 7 are against the Mumbai Indians at Mumbai on April 7 and the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 28.
‘You want to see him play all the time’ – Former India player, Parthiv Patel on Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is not just a fan’s favourite boy, but the entire cricket fraternity loves him. Since U-19 days, Pant has been an enthusiastic and energetic kid who gave his 100% to the game and everything else he did. Thus, while talking about his return to the IPL, India’s former batter, Parthiv Patel spoke about how good a player Pant is and how his recovery is important for the Indian team as well.
“Pant is very positive. He is a blockbuster player. Whenever he comes, he does something and makes his team win. You want to see him play all the time. He’s a great package. On top of everything, he’s recovered really well after that accident. Hopefully, we’ll see him hitting sixes again,” said Parthiv.
