After a long wait, Pakistan has finally managed to host England on their home soil. In September this year, both teams played seven-match T20I series. The second leg of the series consists of three Tests. This series is set to start on December 1. However, the upcoming game in Rawalpindi might get postponed. Apparently, some of the players from the visiting teams have suffered from viral infections.

In the statement issued by the PCB, it says that both boards are having a discussion over the matter. The statement further said that the PCB is monitoring the situation and will provide further updates.

“The PCB and ECB are in discussions regarding the commencement of the 1st #PAKvENG Test as some England players are down with viral infection,” the board said on Twitter.

“The PCB continues to monitor the situation, is in contact with the ECB and will provide further updates in due course.”

I haven’t seen anyone this morning: Joe Root

On the other hand, former England Test skipper Joe Root has also spoken about the issue. He said that it is hard to say what’s happening with the players but maintained that he hasn’t seen them. The right-hander further added that the players haven’t been infected from COVID or food poisoning. He also revealed that he felt unwell but is feeling better now.

“It’s hard to say, I haven’t seen anyone this morning,” he said, adding: “I don’t think it’s food poisoning or Covid or anything like that, it’s just one of those things that we have unfortunately picked up as a group.

“I felt unwell yesterday and woke up feeling much better today, so hopefully it’s a 24-hour thing.

At the time of writing, their is no official update on the matter.
