The right-hander had a blast in the 2010 season of the Indian T20 League. During the tournament, he amassed 374 runs for Bangalore at an average of 31.16 and a strike rate of 171.55 which is the best in his league career.
The 2007 20-20 World Cup winner was expected to be part of the team after Virender Sehwag was ruled out. However, the selectors gave preference to Murali Vijay, who scored 458 runs during the tournament and was making his international debut. The fans wanted some experience in the team.
