England all-rounder played for the first time in the cash-rich league in 2017. That year, he played for now-defunct Pune and helped the team reach the playoffs after having a dreadful start in the first few games. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) arranged a series with Ireland during the tournament. Notably, Stokes took the special permission to play the league alongside Chris Woakes.
