Pakistan was on the top of the Super 12 game against India in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. During India’s innings, Pakistan’s bowlers took four wickets in the initial stages of the innings. The 2009 winners were the favorites at this stage. However, the 113-run partnership between former skipper Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya kept the team in the game. It eventually helped the team win the game by four wickets.

Meanwhile, a day after Pakistan’s loss to their arch-rivals, former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez has come down hard on Babar Azam‘s captaincy. The former sarcastically said that Babar’s captaincy is like a sacred cow. Hafeez added that this is the third consecutive game where he could see the flaws in the Pakistan skipper’s captaincy.

“Babar Azam’s captaincy is like a sacred cow that cannot be criticized. It’s the third consecutive big game that we are seeing flaws in Babar captaincy, but we keep hearing that by the time he gets to the age of 32 he will learn.

“In today’s match, from the 7th over till the 11th over, when India were struggling for even 4 runs an over, why did Babar not fulfill the spin quota overs in that timeframe,” Hafeez was quoted as saying by the NDTV.

After the high-octane clash, the Lahore player said that his bowlers did well and made it difficult for the Indian batters. He also credited the likes of Kohli and Pandya for India’s win.

“Our bowlers bowled really well. All credit to Kohli and Pandya. It wasn’t easy with the new ball. We had partnerships after 10 overs. We had a chance. We tried to stick to our plans. But credit to Virat Kohli. In the middle we decided we wanted a wicket and held the spinner back. We had a lot of positives. The way Iftikhar played and the way Shan played,” he said.
