‘Future bright h betiyon ka’ – Fans salute Indian Women Cricket Team post their historic Under-19 Women World Cup 2023 triumph
India headed into the finals after a thumping victory over New Zealand, whom they defeated by eight wickets. England, on the other hand, defeated Australia in a low-scoring encounter in Under-19 World Cup 2023. Now, India defeated England Women’s team by 7 wickets to be crowned winners of the inaugural world tournament on Sunday.
Soumya Tiwari, Gongadi Trisha, and Archana Devi performed brilliantly for India. Archana, Parshvi Chopra, and Titas Sadhu took two wickets each with the ball. India won the title under the captaincy of Shefali Verma. This time in the tournament, Shweta Sehrawat topped in terms of scoring the most runs.
England’s Under-19 Women’s team, while batting first, piled up a score of just 68 runs. During this, Ryana Macdonald Gay scored 19 runs in 24 balls. Her innings included 3 fours. Captain Grace got out after scoring just 4 runs. Parshvi Chopra bowled brilliantly during England’s innings. She took 2 wickets for 13 runs in her 4-over spell.
Shweta Sehrawat scored the most runs in the tournament
Archana Devi took 2 wickets for 17 runs in 3 overs. Titas Sadhu gave only 6 runs in 4 overs and took 2 wickets in her name. Captain Shefali Verma also got a success in the first innings. She gave 16 runs in 2 overs. Sonam Yadav and Mannat Kashyap took one wicket each for the Women in Blue.
Chasing the target given by England, India won the match in 14 overs. Soumya scored 24 and went unbeaten for Team India. She hit 3 fours. Captain Shefali contributed 15 runs which included a four and a six. Trisha scored 24 runs in 29 balls, her innings included 3 fours. With this, Team India won the final match by 7 wickets over England.
In terms of scoring the most runs in the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, Indian player Shweta topped the list. She scored 292 runs in 6 matches. During this, Shweta scored 3 half-centuries. She scored more than 90 runs in an inning. Maggie Clarke topped in terms of taking the most wickets in the tournament. She took 12 wickets in 5 matches. Parshvi took the maximum of 9 wickets for India.
