Young English sensation Harry Brook smashed a thrilling century in the Hundred to put the disappointment of the World Cup snub behind him. The young dashing right-handed batter from Yorkshire scored an unbeaten 105 runs from 42 deliveries with 11 fours and 7 sixes. The 105 not out by Brook was stunning because none of the other batters barring Adam Hose had managed to reach double figures for Northern Superchargers who had scored 158/7 from their stipulated 100 deliveries.

The game between Northern Superchargers and Welsh Fire was played at the famed Headingley at Leeds. Batting first, Superchargers scored 158/7 thanks to the ton from local lad Harry Brook. The rest of the batters just crumbled to the precise bowling from the Welsh Fire team. David Willey picked two wickets, while Matt Henry, David Payne, Van Der Merwe, and Luke Wells picked a wicket each.

Chasing 159 to win, the Welsh Fire team was not bothered as they coasted to an easy 8-wicket win with 10 balls to spare. The top scorer for the Welsh team was Stephen Eskinazi who scored 58 off 28 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. The innings were ended by Adil Rashid, and Jonny Bairstow was out for 44 off 39 balls. The winnings runs were hit by Joe Clarke who was not out on 42 off 22 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, while Luke Wells was not out on six.

Sending a timely reminder to the selectors

Harry Brook has created quite a splash since his international debut. The right-handed batter from Yorkshire was showing his full flair during the three-match-test-series against Pakistan late last year. Brook was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad during the IPL auction last year.

Brook did not have a good season barring one century he scored before he was omitted from the team. The 24-year-old played a key part in England making a comeback to the Ashes 2023 series after being 2-0 down. Despite the rich vein of form, the English selection panel did not pick up the talented right-hander for the preliminary squad for the ODI World Cup later this year.
