Ishan Kishan has grown in stature as a cricketer in the last few years. His aggressive approach while batting along with his fearless attitude has earned him accolades from the cricketing fraternity.

He has been an asset for his Indian T20 League franchise, Mumbai. In the 15th edition of the tournament also he has made his presence felt. He has scored two half-centuries in the two matches for the team. Although Mumbai is finding it difficult to find their first win of the tournament, Ishan Kishan’s form is a great positive for the franchise. However, Ishan is looking to acquire something from the brain of the Indian stalwart MS Dhoni.

MSD is known for his tactical genius and his capability to read match situations perfectly. The fans and experts are always in awe of how ‘captain cool’ reads a game, adapts and comes up with strategies to outdo his opponents. Ishan Kishan spoke of his observations of Dhoni in one of the matches against Chennai in the Indian T20 League.

Ishan spoke of an instance when he was batting against Chennai. He said that Dhoni walked up to his bowler, Imran Tahir and told him something. After which Tahir bowled a half volley, driving which Ishan was caught at short third man. The youngster said that he is still trying to understand how a batter trying to drive a ball gets caught at the third man.

“More than keeping I keep trying to figure out how his mind works. You won’t believe in one of the Indian T20 League games, it really stressed me out the most. I was playing well and hitting the bowlers. But then Dhoni Bhai walked up to the bowler and said something. I couldn’t hear what he said to Imran Bhai. And in my mind, I’m wondering what Dhoni Bhai has told him,”- to quote Ishan Kishan from his conversation with Gaurav Kapoor on Breakfast With Champions.

“I don’t know what happened but there was a half-volley, which I drove but got out caught at the short-third man. To date, I haven’t figured out how a batter trying to drive a spinner gets caught at third man,”- Ishan Kishan further added.
