In India cricket is not merely a sport, it is a religion. April 2nd, 2011 is a date that the cricket-crazy nation will not easily forget. It was the date that India won the men’s cricket World Cup after 28 years. On the night of the final the then Indian skipper MS Dhoni played an extraordinary knock of 91 runs under pressure and stayed till the end to guide his team to victory. The last ball six has become iconic and is etched in the memories of the fans with the amazing voice of Ravi Shastri commentating- “Dhoni finishes off in style……”

MSD’s knock is considered one of the best in the history of the World Cup, especially in a final. But on that night, there was another knock that helped India’s cause.  Gautam Gambhir scored 97 runs and steadied the Indian innings at a time when India was under pressure after losing two early wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Since then whenever someone has credited MS Dhoni for India’s win that day, Gambhir has been quick in correcting them saying that it was a team effort.

On the 11th anniversary of the memorable event the hero for India in the tournament, Yuvraj Singh took to his official Instagram profile to share a post commemorating the event. Gautam Gambhir commented on the post – “That feeling of fulfilling the dream of a billion people! It was a magical evening!”

Yuvraj replied to Gambhir’s comment by calling MS Dhoni ‘the man of the finals!”, to which Gambhir was again seen reminding Yuvi that it was a team effort that won India the tournament.

Gambhir’s reply read- “@yuvisoffcial And you the man of the tournament! All about teamwork brother”
