“Mahi-the man, the myth, the legend”: Dhoni’s brilliance dismisses Rajapaksa

The 11th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 is taking place at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai between Punjab and Chennai. Chennai is looking to make a comeback in the tournament after two defeats in their first two games of the tournament.
Chennai, at last, managed to win a toss in the tournament and put Punjab to bat. Punjab lost a wicket early in the innings as Mayank was dismissed in the first over by Mukesh Choudhary. This brought Bhanuka Rajapaksa into the crease. In his previous two outings for Punjab, Rajapaksa has played a counter-attacking brand of cricket impressing everybody. It was essential for Chennai to dismiss him early if they wanted to restrict Punjab to a moderate total.
Rajapaksa was facing Chris Jordan in the second over of the innings. Jordan bowled the delivery just short of good length which Rajapaksa dabbed towards short mid-on. The batter immediately set off for a single. There was a mix-up between the two players as Jordan picked up the ball. The bowler aimed the stumps at the striker’s end and threw the ball but missed. But the veteran MS Dhoni had the presence of mind to run up to the stumps and pick up the throw. He then made a dive and effected a brilliant run out to see the back of Rajapaksa.
The brilliance and presence of mind that MSD displayed got the fans super excited. The fans immediately took to Twitter praising the veteran’s ability to read game situations. It was as if the MSD has turned the clock back to the day when he used to display such brilliance on a daily basis.
