India is getting ready to face Pakistan on 28 August 2022 for this year’s Asia Cup in the UAE. Big-name players like Virat Kohli will be back in action this time around as he took a rest from both the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours. Since 2019, Virat has failed to score a century across any format.

Now, Speaking to the official channel of Indian Cricket, Kohli opened up on his high-intensity level during the game. He said that he has always looked for a win for his team whether he is gasping for breath. The Indian Cricket Board also shared a little glimpse of that full video on their Twitter account.

“I was not able to get that high intensity naturally, I was pushing myself to do it” – Virat Kohli

Speaking on that official channel, Virat Kohli said that he was not lacking that high intensity in recent times. But, it was not coming naturally to him. Virat was also unaware of that thing. He said: “I want to make my team win at any cost and if that means that I am gasping for breath and I walk off the field, so be it. I mean that’s the kind of preparation I go through to be able to play like that. Wo naturally nahi ho Raha tha aur mujhe push Karna pad Raha tha (I was not able to get that high intensity naturally, I was pushing myself to do it). But I just didn’t know it,”

He also added: “People ask me a lot, how do you do this on the field and how do you carry on with so much intensity. I just tell them I love playing the game and I love the fact that I have so much to contribute to every ball, and I will give every inch of my energy on the field.”

Virat also said that high intensity is very normal to him. “For me, it never felt like abnormal. A lot of people on the outside watched me and even within the team they asked me how do you keep up with it, and I just said one simple thing that I want to win,” Virat Kohli concluded.
