‘I’m hurt’ – Mohammed Shami reacts to Mitchell Marsh viral photo of resting feet on ODI World Cup trophy
India’s ace pacer Mohammed Shami recently opined about Mitchell Marsh’s viral photograph of resting his legs on the ODI World Cup 2023 trophy. Australia defeated India by six wickets in the final match of the ODI World Cup 2023 to win the sixth tournament title.
Shami did not like and appreciate Marsh’s treatment of the trophy and felt hurt regarding the same. While openly admitting his desire to still lift the ODI World Cup trophy Shami criticized Marsh for disrespecting the trophy and resting his legs on it.
“I am hurt. The trophy for which all the teams in the world fight, the trophy which you want to lift over your head, keeping a foot on that trophy did not make me happy,” said Mohammed Shami.

“Generally, bowlers check the pitch after arriving at the ground. I never go close to the wicket because you will know how it behaves only when you bowl on it. Then why take the pressure? It’s best to keep it simple, keep yourself relaxed, and only then you will perform better,” Shami said in a conversation with PUMA.
“When you sit out for four matches, you need to be mentally strong. Sometimes you are under pressure but when you see the team performing well and going in a good direction, it gives you satisfaction,” he added.
“Mujhe kabhi jalan nahi hoti. Agar aap dusre ke success ko enjoy karna sikh loge toh much better player banoge aap. Main kuch nahi karta. Jo hai upar wala dene wala hai (I don’t get jealous, if you are not enjoying others’ success then you are not learning. I only believe in what the almighty plans for me),” said Mohammed Shami in the PUMA India video while talking about his campaign for India in ODI World Cup 2023.
