Two Bullet shells were recovered from a luggage compartment of the bus which is supposed to be used by Sri Lanka when they arrive in Mohali. The bus is supposed to carry the team from the Hotel Lalit, Chandigarh to the I.S Bindra Stadium. They team will play the first Test of the two-match series from March 4. The Chandigarh police was conducting a routine check of the bus when they found the bullet shells

The police personnel were using the metal detectors at that time, which detected the shells. The bus was parked inside the hotel complex which comes under IT Park Police Station. Notably, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered but a Daily Register has been recorded. Initial investigation suggest that the private bus was hired from Tara Brothers, which operates in Sector 17, Chandigarh.

According to the police sources, the bus was hired for a marriage function in the recent times. The Station House Officer of the IT Park Police station has refrained from making any comments. The marriage celebratory firing is officially banned in Punjab but is still prevalent. The police is currently questioning the bus driver and owners on how the shells ended up in the bus and who hired the bus.

Notably, Indian and Sri Lanka team is currently in Dharamshala, which is around three hours away from Mohali. In reply, the hosts chased down the target in just 17.1 overs. At the time of writing, the Lions have elected to bat first in the last T20I and are tottering at 10/2 in 3.1 overs.
