India likely to send men’s and women’s cricket teams to Asian Games 2023
The Indian Cricket Board has announced that both cricket teams will be taking part in the forthcoming edition of the Asian Games which is scheduled to take place in Hangzhou in September-October. The decision marks the development as India did not compete in cricket during the previous editions of the Asian Games which took place back in 2010 and 2014.
The men’s team chosen for the Asian Games will mostly be composed of up-and-coming youngsters as India gets ready for the forthcoming 50-over home World Cup later in 2023. Star India opener, Shikhar Dhawan is expected to lead as the team’s captain in order to provide direction to the inexperienced team. India hopes to strengthen its cricketing legacy on the world stage by sending teams to the Asian Games. The opportunity will provide the nation’s emerging stars a chance to demonstrate their skills and pick up useful experience in a competitive multisport environment.
