 Indian Cricket Board Gives Update On Jasprit Bumrah’s Return To International Cricket

Team India is currently busy playing the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE. However, before this tournament, they dealt a massive blow. Jasprit Bumrah got ruled out of the tournament due to his back injury. Even, reports were there that he might not have enough time to recover from that injury before the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, fans got relieved after seeing him in the rehab session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. He was looking good and now, a member of the Indian Cricket Board selection committee also confirmed the same. He expressed that Bumrah is progressing well. Hence, he can be back in action during the home series against Australia or South Africa.

“We are hopeful that Jasprit Bumrah will be coming back in Australia or South Africa series” – Member of the selection committee

Speaking to InsideSport, the senior official of the Indian Cricket Board said that they are hopeful to see Bumrah in action in Australia or South Africa series. He said: “He has made good progress on his recovery. We are in constant touch with the physios. Nitin (Patel) is keeping a regular tab while he is away from NCA. We are hopeful that he will be coming back in Australia or South Africa series and definitely for T20 World Cup. But it’s still too early to say.”

Earlier this month, there was concern regarding his injury. A Board official said: “Yes, it’s concerning. He is back in rehab and will get the best medical advice available. The problem is it’s his old injury and that is what is concerning. We have just two months left for the World Cup and he has got this injury at the worst possible time. We are closely monitoring his condition. He is the best bowler in cricket and needs to be carefully managed.”

Notably, Bumrah last played for India during the England tour. Even, he captained India in the fifth rescheduled Test against England in Birmingham in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
