Indian Cricket Board make their stance clear on KL Rahul’s ‘personal leave’ for wedding in January 2023 – Reports
India vice-captain KL Rahul is rumored to get married to Athiya Shetty, daughter of veteran Bollywood actor, Suniel Shetty. Rahul and Athiya have been dating each other for the last few years. However, they managed to keep their relationship under wraps and disclosed t only a few months back. At that time, it was rumored that the couple is getting married.
In reply, Athiya took a dig at the fans by saying that she hasn’t been invited to the wedding. Meanwhile, the senior Shetty revealed that the duo will get married as soon as the right-hander gets free from his busy schedule. Last month, the Hera Pheri actor was present in an event where he was asked about the wedding. In reply, he said that it will happen soon.
“Hopefully soon, we will know when and where will the wedding will happen. I guess at the right time, everyone will know details about the wedding,” Suneil Shetty told Hindustan Times.
On the other hand, an Indian Cricket Board official had said last month that Rahul requested some time off. The former had pointed out that this was the reason the India vice-captain wasn’t playing in the New Zealand series.
“KL has asked for some personal time off. That is why he is not playing in New Zealand. He does not have any injury concerns or a break. He has some family commitments. I am not aware if he is getting married or engaged but yes, he has some personal commitment is what I can tell you,” a BCCI official told InsideSport earlier.
Is KL Rahul to miss the Sri Lanka series?
With the 30-year-old reportedly getting married, he will definitely miss the white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home. India will host Sri Lanka in the three ODIs and as many T20I matches in December-January.
