Indian Cricket Board name the top performers for India in 2022 across formats
The ongoing calendar year of 2022 is about to end. This year, quite a few players gave their best for India across formats. Even though the team lost the Asia Cup title and failed to win the 20-20 World Cup, the team did alright in bilateral cricket. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board has analyzed the performance of every player and rewarded the best performances.
Notably, the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have missed out on awards. Starting with the Test format, the board named Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah as the top batter and bowler respectively. The left-hander, Pant scored 680 runs in seven matches at an average of 61.81 with 146 runs as the highest score. On the other hand, Bumrah scalped the highest number of wickets for India in the longest format of the game, getting 22 wickets in five matches.
Notably, the right-arm pacer has been injured since September this year. Meanwhile, talking about the T20I format, one pick will surprise the readers while another won’t. Suryakumar Yadav has been named the best batter in the format. In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named the best with the ball. Yadav amassed 1164 runs in 31 matches and was the highest run-getter in T20Is.
On the other hand, Kumar emerged as the highest wicket-taker in T20Is, picking 37 wickets in 32 matches. Notably, his death bowling was a concern for the team during Asia and the 20-20 World Cups. Talking about the ODI format, the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj are the best batter and bowlers respectively for this year.
In 17 matches, Iyer scored 724 runs and finished as the highest run-getter in ODIs for India in 2022. On the other hand, Siraj became the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets in 15 matches in the 50-over format.
