IPL 2023: Three captains with the worst record in Indian Premier League
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season has gotten off to a thrilling start. We have seen some fantastic performances over the past two weeks from players at various stages of their careers. Most team skippers have done a good job in their particular responsibilities. Among the best leaders, this season have been Shikhar Dhawan, Nitish Rana, Faf du Plessis, and Aiden Markram.
In a T20 event, a captain must constantly be on top of his exceptional leadership abilities since the outcome of the match may alter in a matter of balls. The history of the IPL is full of incredible captaincy and leadership moments that teach us how a leader should handle a crisis. However, there are instances where captains have fallen short of leading their team to the trophy pedestal.
Let’s look at the three worst captains in the history of the Indian Premier League so far:
3. Ajinkya Rahane – 36.00%
Ajinkya Rahane captained the Rajasthan Royals for a short time, but his tenure as the team’s captain was not very noteworthy. He led the IPL team for 25 games but only managed to win nine and lose 16. This results in a 36-win percentage. In the 2019 IPL, the former Indian Test vice-captain steered the Rajasthan Royals to victory. The Delhi Capitals later acquired him in a trade. He then went on to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders last season, and currently, he is playing for Chennai Super Kings.
