IPL 2023: Three captains with the worst record in Indian Premier League
1. Kumar Sangakkara – 34.04%
Kumar Sangakkara now holds the record for the league’s lowest victory % among captains. Sangakkara led three teams, the Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), just like Jayawardene did. During the 47 games he coached these teams, he was only able to win 15, lose 30 games, and deal with two ties. This results in a victory percentage of 34.04 overall. Sangakkara led KXIP to a fifth-place finish in 2009 in his maiden year as captain. In 2011, he changed teams and joined the Deccan Chargers, where he helped them to a seventh-place finish. The Deccan Chargers finished eighth the next season, thus their situation did not get any better.
