Ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand has seen matches being impacted by rain. The first T20I washed out while the third game was decided on Duckworth Lewis Stern Method. Rain continues to wreak havoc in the series as the second ODI of the three-match series was washed out. In the game, the Men In Blue batted first after losing the toss.

After playing 12.5 overs, the rain made sure the game didn’t complete at all and was washed out. In reaction to this, India’s opening batter, Shubman Gill has opened up and expressed his frustration with the development. He said that all cricket boards collectively decided to play the game in indoor stadiums. The 2018 U19 World Cup winner added it is frustrating for players and fans to go in and out.

The right-hander further opined that the closed-roof stadium would be a great option

“This is a decision (playing in indoor stadiums) to be taken by the boards. As a player and as fans, it is irritating to go in and out and see so many matches being affected by rain. But I don’t know how I can take a stand for it as it is a big decision.

“Obviously closed (retractable) roof (stadiums) would be good,” the youngster told media persons after the second ODI was abandoned with only 12.5 overs being bowled.

“It was very frustrating. You don’t know how many overs so you can’t plan your innings,” Gill, who had hit a purple patch in 50-over cricket, said.

New Zealand became World’s Number One ODI side

With this result, the Kiwis have become the world’s number one side. In reaction to this, skipper Kane Williamson said “Rankings float around a little bit, but at the same time, it recognises the hard work we have been doing. You always try to get better, and everyone you come against are tough. You don’t think about such things though.”
