Jasprit Bumrah to be rested for fourth Test in Ranchi against England: Reports
Test vice-captain of India, Jasprit Bumrah can take a break now. The 30-year-old leader of the Indian pace attack was to be rested for the third Test of the ongoing five-match Test series against England, but will now be allowed to take a rest in the fourth Test, which will be held on Ranchi. His participation in the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala is uncertain for now. It will depend on the outcome of the fourth Test. The fourth Test will be played on February 23 in JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi.
Jasprit Bumrah is a potential threat to any team facing off against India. He is lethal and consistent. Bumrah bowled beautifully in the third Test as well. Maybe he did not take too many wickets but his overall contribution to the team was priceless. In the first innings, he scored an important knock of 26 runs. He hit 3 fours and a six, to help India to reach 445 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test. He took a wicket each in both innings.
Bumrah may be rested for workload management and KL Rahul might be back in the team for the fourth Test
According to Cricbuzz, the Indian team will fly from Rajkot on Tuesday, and it is unlikely that Jasprit Bumrah will travel with the Indian side. Probably he will drive down to Ahmedabad, which is not far from Rajkot. It will take just four hours from Rajkot. Till now there is no news of any other player, who might be skipping the next Test in Ranchi.
The decision to rest Bumrah will not be a reason for worry, it will be a part of workload management by the Indian Cricket Board. Bumrah has bowled 80.5 overs in this series so far against England. He is also the series’ leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets at an average of 13.64. However, middle-order batter KL Rahul, who was out of the third Test for injury concern, might be back in the playing XI for the fourth Test in Ranchi.
Indian team management did not give any information about Bumrah’s replacement yet. Pacer Mukesh Kumar will rejoin the squad in Ranchi. He was released from the third Test to participate in the Ranji Trophy game for his state Bengal.
