‘Kiski baarat me aaye ho bhai’ – Fans react as Jonny Bairstow gets run-out due by Alex Carey in most unusual manner in Ashes 2023
Star England batter, Jonny Bairstow was furious after a peculiar Lord’s judgment on Day 5 went against him. Alex Carey, the Australian wicketkeeper, ran out Bairstow in an unusual way as England attempted to chase down 371 runs at Lord’s.
In an odd turn of events, Bairstow was run out in the 52nd over on Day 5 and lost his wicket. The England batter who was responsible for keeping wickets avoided a Cameron Green delivery and left the crease thinking the over had finished but the ball was not dead. Carey, though, was keen behind the stumps and threw under-armed on the wickets, which confused Bairstow.

After much consideration, the umpire decided to dismiss Bairstow because the ball wasn’t dead. After making 10 runs off 22 balls, the 33-year-old was sent back to the dressing room, as England lost their sixth wicket at Lord’s. The crowd began screaming “cheat, cheat” as soon as Bairstow was dismissed to express their displeasure with the decision.
Several former cricket players voiced their opinions on the subject following Bairstow’s dismissal, with former England captain Eoin Morgan claiming Carey did well. “Bairstow ducks, the ball is still active. He goes walking down the wicket and is out. It’s smart work by Carey,” said Morgan.
Mark Taylor, a former captain of Australia, defended Carey and said that although if it didn’t seem good, he made the right choice.“Carey doesn’t wait for Bairstow to walk out, he’s going to do that regardless. It doesn’t look good and people aren’t going to be happy about it, but it’s the right decision,” said Taylor on Sky Sports.
After that, Stuart Broad, who had taken Bairstow’s position at the crease, got into a series of heated arguments, one of which was overheard by the stump microphone. Broad continued to discuss the case with Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner after the athletes left for lunch. “You’ll forever be remembered for that,” he stated.

English fans are gonna call this unsportsmanlike but I call it lack of awareness by Bairstow and hyper awareness by Carey
