‘Kisne selection kiya hai uske pas…’ – Fans give mixed reactions as Rishabh Pant’s name omitted from white-ball sqaud against Sri Lanka

India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant‘s name was omitted from the T20I and ODI squads for the series against Sri Lanka. The reason is unknown although it is reported that he has been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Meanwhile, the left-hander hasn’t been in form since hitting his maiden ODI hundred in England. The innings came against England in the third ODI in July this year.
Since then, the former India U19 player hasn’t been able to hit a fifty across white-ball formats. Not to forget, he was dropped from the playing XI during the Men’s Asia Cup and 20-20 World Cup a few months back. In the white-ball series against New Zealand last month and against Bangladesh this month, Pant failed with the bat. Meanwhile, it is now reported that he has been carrying a niggle.
Talking about the series, the three-match T20I series will start on January 3, followed by as many ODIs.

After Pant’s omission, the fans are divided over the matter. Some feel that the right decision was taken. On the other hand, some feel that he could have given a longer run.

All though we see a dip in form in white ball cricket, Pant have the right aggresive attitude when he face any bowler with our fear or quality bowling or getting out . If you are giving chances for 30+ seniors for 1 or 2 years retirement why not for 25old Pant.#rishabhpant

As far as Rishabh Pant is concerned some news outlets have said that he is being sent to NCA for knee strengthening is just to save his image.

Instead of dropping @RishabhPant17 from ODI's and T20s. You guys should drop @klrahul first. RP has atleast shown some intent and form in Tests and I don't remember that KL has shown any other than playing well against comparatively weaker teams.@BCCI #DropKLRahul
