KL Rahul Is Set To Miss More Matches For India
After the completion of the three-match ODI series, India is set to play the five-match T20I series against West Indies from 29 July 2022. Star players like Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are going back for that series after getting some rest in the ODIs. Meanwhile, they reached West Indies on Tuesday, 26 July 2022. But, KL Rahul was missing from that traveling squad.
Now, reports are confirming that KL Rahul is set to miss the T20I series also. This Indian batter has been advised to one more week’s rest and recuperation by the BCCI’s medical professionals. Earlier this week, he got tested positive for Covid-19 while he was recovering from injury in Bengaluru.
“KL Rahul needs rest for another fortnight to recover completely from Covid” – a source from the Indian Board
After being Covid-19 positive, KL Rahul’s isolation period ends on 27 July 2022. He was also looking to make a comeback in the US leg of this upcoming T20I series on August 6 and 7. But, now medical representatives have advised him for one more week’s rest before getting ready for a comeback.
Even, a source from the Indian Cricket Board also confirmed that Rahul needs another fortnight for complete recovery. The source also said that no replacement will be announced for him. He said: “Rahul needs rest for another fortnight to recover completely from Covid. However, it is unlikely that a replacement for him will be sent to the West Indies. Either Rishabh Pant or Ishan Kishan can open with Rohit. There’s no point in sending someone now,”
Now, KL Rahul will look to make a comeback in the upcoming ODI series in Zimbabwe as the T20 World Cup in Australia is inching closer. Speaking of India, they have already won two matches out of three as the ODI series is already in their bag. The last match of this series will take place on 27 July 2022. The five-match T20I series against West Indies will start from 29 July till 7 August 2022.
