‘KL tu retire ho jaa jaldi se’ – Shubman Gill scores his second Test hundred in fourth game against Australia

India opening batter Shubman Gill has brought up his second Test hundred in the ongoing fourth game against Australia. Notably, he wasn’t playing in the first two Tests of the series in Nagpur and Delhi respectively. KL Rahul was opening the batting with skipper Rohit Sharma despite the former’s poor form across formats in the last few months. Meanwhile, Gill has latched on to the opportunity in the ongoing game.

After Australia won the toss, they amassed 480 all-out in a little less than two days. For the visitors, the likes of Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green scored hundreds. On the other hand, todd Murphy and Nathan Lyon took the team from 400-odd for eight to 480 all-out. For India, Ravichandran Ashwin took a six-wicket haul. In reply, the home team needed a good start to put up a fight.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a good start as they put together 74 runs. The former scored 35 and got out while playing a poor shot. On the other hand, Gill went to score his second Test hundred. He played at a good pace in the first session. In the next session, the Aussies bowled tight lines. However, he still kept his composure and went on to score his century in the end.

Meanwhile, in the last session of the game, the right-hander was trapped lbw by Nathan Lyon. Before this, the former scored 128 runs including 12 fours and a six. Thanks to his hundred, the team has reached 289/3 at stumps on Day Three. Former India skipper Virat Kohli has scored his first fifty of the series and is not out. He is batting with Ravindra Jadeja.
