“Kohli-Shastri Duo Was Something Else” – Fans Demand A Ravi Shastri Return After India Conceded A Record Chase Against England

England’s new Test captain, Ben Stokes registered his fourth win in four consecutive matches as England pulled off a record chase of 378 runs against India at Edgbaston in the fifth rescheduled Test match. Before this match, India was leading the series at a margin of 2-1 and they had a chance of winning a Test series on English soil.

However, they blew the chances as Ben Stokes and his boys thrashed India in Birmingham. Speaking about the match, India dealt with a blow when their skipper, Rohit Sharma got ruled out of the game due to Covid-19 infection on the eve of this match. Then, Jasprit Bumrah was appointed as the captain. England won the toss and opted for bowling only.

While batting first, India lost some quick wickets but it was the pair of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, which helped India in posting a huge total of 416 runs. Both of them scored a hundred each and stitched a solid partnership of 222 runs for the sixth wicket. In reply, Indian bowlers performed well to restrict England to a score of 284 runs. Only Jonny Bairstow scored another hundred in their first innings.

Having a lead of 132 runs in the bag, India was looking to take away the game from England. But, their batters failed miserably as they got bundled out for 245 runs only. Two players, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant only managed to score a fifty each in that innings. Thus, India set up a target of 378 runs for England. However, it was found that England needed to create a new record for chasing this huge target on their home soil. In reply, English openers started brilliantly, and then, Joe Root put up an unbeaten partnership of 269 runs with Jonny Bairstow to ensure the record-breaking victory for England.

After this embarrassing loss for India, fans found it very tough to swallow as they came up on their social media with a request to bring back the former India coach Ravi Shastri. Fans started to troll Rahul Dravid and Co. for conceding a record chase against England.
