‘Kya solid information hai’ – Fans react as Aakash Chopra reveals who decides ‘Player of the Match’ award
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently revealed who decided the Player of the Match award after the completion of the cricket game. There has been a lot of debate after Suryakumar Yadav won the Player of the Match award for his maiden IPL century in the last game between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium. However, some people believe that the award should have been given to Rashid Khan for his all-round performance.
Chopra took on his Twitter to reveal that there’s one English commentator who is nominated to be the adjudicator for every game and decides who will be the Player of the Match. He wrote – “Those who keep wondering how and who decides the POTM award…there’s ONE commentator from the World Feed (English) who’s nominated to be the adjudicator for every game. So, it’s always down to just ‘that’ person to decide who gets the award.”
‘The most valuable player is Rashid Khan’ – Chopra
However, Chopra himself picked Rashid over Suryakumar as his most valuable player of the match. He believes that Rashid would have single-handedly won the match for GT if he got the support from the other end. The 24-year-old not just helped his side to recover from the early wickets when the score was 55 for 5, but also prevented a huge loss as he remained unbeaten by smashing 79 runs off just 32 balls. However, despite his splendid knock, GT fell short of 27 runs from MI’s total.
“The most valuable player of the match in my humble opinion, is not Suryakumar Yadav. The most valuable player is Rashid Khan. If he had gotten a little help from someone else, if they were not 55/5, Rashid Khan would have single-handedly won them the match,” Chopra said in a latest video on his Youtube Channel.
Talking about the match, MI strengthened their chances of qualifying to the playoffs of IPL 2023 as they defeated GT by 27 runs. Batting first, MI posted a huge total of 218 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Surykumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 103 runs off just 49 balls. In reply, GT were restricted to 191 runs losing 8 wickets.
It was a bad call yesterday sir. No disrespect to sky 100 but rashid put on an all round show with 4wickets for 30runs in 4 overs , 70+ runs at 268 SR when his team was 8wickets down plus a catch while fielding. He deserved it in my opinion. Many would agree too

Venkitesh Iyer got MOTM award for a losing cause, yasawi jaiswal hot MOTM for a losing cause, because scoring a century despite being on the losing side. Then there is SKY who scored a century and posted a winning total for his team. How does this knock go without being rewarded?

Wouldn't be a bit surprised if that selector is either sunny or manjrekar or aakash

TBH, impact wise both knocks had equal impact on their respective team. Just one impact knock helped win a team, so he was chosen.. if you take match as a whole, it definitely will look Rashid’s is better. But does he need certificate??

This isn't fair.
All the commentators should have equal vote and it should be decided by that.
No doubt hamesha favouritism ke aarop lagte rehte hai MOTM award par.
Yesterday for ex, no doubt Surya played a brilliant inning but Rashid was by far the best performer of the game
