‘Mafia Shakib Al Hasan’- Fans divided as Shakib Al Hasan involves in a heated exchange with umpire during BPL clash

Shakib Al Hasan had trouble with an on-field umpire during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2023. In game number four between Fortune Barisal and Sylhet Sixers, the Bangladesh T20I skipper lost his cool. In the 16th over of the Barishal’s innings, Rejaur Rehman Raja bowled a slow bouncer that clearly went above Hasan’s head. The latter was expecting the umpires to call it a wide alongside one bouncer for the over.

However, to the shock of the fans and the player, the umpires gave it a bouncer and didn’t call it a wide. The left-hander could believe his luck and had a heated argument with the umpires. The entire incident was caught on camera and the video is going viral on the internet. As per the rules, the umpires must have given it a wide as the ball went above Shakib’s head.

Shakib Al Hasan has had trouble with the umpires before

The all-rounder has had trouble with the umpires before. In 2021, the former Hyderabad player in the Indian T20 League had an altercation with the umpires during the Dhaka Premier League 2021. During one of the games in the tournament, he thought that he trapped the opposition batter for lbw. He appealed and the umpires didn’t pay heed to it.

What followed was the 35-year-old kicking the stumps in front of the umpires. Thankfully, the stumps went sideways from the umpire’s standing position. Meanwhile, the incident caught the attention of the cricket fraternity and the fans. Coming back to the recent game, the former Adelaide Strikers player in the BBL scored 67 off just 32 balls. His innings helped the team reach 194/7. However, the former Dhaka Gladiators player’s inning went in vain as Sylhet chased down the target in 19 overs and six wickets in hand.
