Australia’s former opening batter Matthew Hayden recently named an Australian player who would have defeated India’s most successful captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a 100 m race during his peak years. Hayden believes Michael Hussey could have easily defeated MS Dhoni in the race since the latter is considered one of the quickest While running between the wickets.

A few years ago, India’s former captain, Dhoni, defeated Hardik Pandya in the 100 m race despite being 12 years older than him. MS Dhoni will be seen in the 17 season of the Indian Premier League 2024 while leading and representing Chennai Super Kings once again, as the defending champions will be keen to win their sixth IPL title.

“MS Dhoni is pretty unflappable, but if you want to give him the shivers, just have a slack fielding effort and don’t contribute in the field. That’s one of the few times that you look at him and go, ‘Oh, that’s not going to be good’,” said Matthew Hayden.

Matthew Hayden also rekindled his memories while facing India’s off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and said, “There were two parts of Harvey. There was Harvey who thought he could get me out every ball, and Harvey who finally gave me some respect and just kept me out of play, Harvey was really hard for me to play because I always wanted to come at him and I’d fall into the trap pretty much nine times out of 10.”

“They are so different. A World Cup is such a monumental moment. I was privileged to play two of them. The IPL was something that I feel really happy about playing in. It was at a time after the Monkeygate when both nations were struggling, there was a power struggle as well on and off the field. So, the IPL was sensational. 2010 IPL is something that I will never forget. Winning down here in Mumbai was magic.” Hayden discussed while recalling his days of winning the World Cup for Australia.
