Mesut Ozil chooses Lionel Messi as ‘Greatest of All Time’ over his ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo
Former German Footballer, Mesut Ozil, who was also the former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid, recently claimed that Lionel Messi is currently ahead of the Portuguese star after leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The former Real Madrid and Arsenal superstar has Ronaldo many times previously in the same debate on multiple occasions. However, this time he decided to go with Messi as he recently became the World Champion.
“It’s a difficult question.. but I will choose Messi because he won the World Cup,” said Ozil as quoted by Sportskeeda.
Ozil and Ronaldo have formed a formidable partnership during their time in Real Madrid. They both have scored 39 goals combined appearing in 149 games together. However, Ronaldo also didn’t name Ozil when he recently picked the best XI featuring all his former teammates.
Messi vs Ronaldo in Saudi Pro League?
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is currently in the final months of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and he is yet to sign an extension to the deal. Reportedly, the Argentina star is likely to leave the Parisian club in the summer.

Reportedly, Messi has a €320 million per year offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. If he accepts the offer, he can be seen playing against Ronaldo who currently plays for Al-Nassr.
“Now we’re focused on the game. We have the final and after the final, we’ll see what’s going to happen,” said the Al-Hilal manager Ramón Díaz about Messi as quoted by Reuters.

However, according to recent reports, PSG still haven’t closed the door for the renewal of Messi’s contract and the Argentine is likely to stay in the French Capital.
