‘Mumbai ya Trinidad’- Rohit Sharma’s comical tweet goes viral after WI vs IND 2nd Test ends in draw
Team India missed an opportunity to clean-sweep the West Indies after rain denied them on Day 5 of the 2nd Test match at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad on Monday. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was happy with India’s series win against West Indies and also revealed India’s positive mindset on a dead wicket on Day 4.
The 36-year-old acknowledged that the squad was confident of winning the Test match on Day 5, but the weather prevented them from doing so. It also cost them their place in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) points standings, allowing Pakistan to claim the top spot following their first-test victory over Sri Lanka. India is currently second on the list, with their next campaign beginning in December against South Africa.
Mumbai ya Trinidad: Rohit Sharma
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday morning, Rohit tweeted, “Mumbai ya Trinidad,” he drew comparisons between the weather in Trinidad and that of Mumbai his home city. As both cities are experiencing heavy rainfall. Talking about the rain and India’s series win, Rohit expressed, “We gave it a good shot, unfortunately, we couldn’t get any play today. We actually went out with a positive intent yesterday. Rain had its final say. We were quite confident. You know how difficult it is batting last. We always wanted that kind of score where we wanted the opposition to go for it. There wasn’t much on the surface. No play today, unfortunate for us.”
He said, “We actually went out with positive intent yesterday, wanting to get a result. We were confident and we knew how difficult it would be to bat last. We always wanted the kind of score where the teams went for it. The opposition in the dressing room should think we have a chance.” Recently a meme of the Indian captain has gone viral, he was spotted poking his head out from between the window panes, posing a bewildered expression, camera caught his reaction. India is set to play three-ODIs and five T20Is.
