‘Net practise mein bhi pehle 6 ball dots’ – Fans react as KL Rahul resumes batting practice after long hiatus due to injury
In what would be big news for the Indian Team, KL Rahul has resumed batting practice and it looks like he is taking baby steps to get back into the Indian side ahead of the 2023 World Cup. In the video that has been circulated by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rahul can be seen taking it slow and practising defensive shorts. Reports have however indicated that Rahul will not make the cut for the upcoming Asia Cup that will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In the video, Rahul was also seen not wearing cricketing attire and protective equipment, he was engaged in a moderate batting session. The right-handed batter was last seen in action on May 1 during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rahul captained his side (LSG) for half-a season in 2023 due to a thigh injury that surfaced at the Ekana Stadium during a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Krunal Pandya took over the reins as captain for the 2023 season.
The 2023 ODI World Cup will be held in India and will kick off in October
The 31-year-old had surgery due to an injury in May. Then he went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to undergo rehabilitation. Rahul could start batting normally anytime soon. This video comes after reports indicated that he would miss the bus for the Asia Cup 2023. Some reports indicated that Rahul will not be in contention for the three-match T20I series against Ireland. However, reports state that Rahul will be a part of the 2023 ODI World Cup squad.
The ODI World Cup will be held in India for the first time since 2011. India will be the sole host this time around. In 2011, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka co-hosted the ODI World Cup. The Men in Blue have not won a world event since 2013 when they won the Champions Trophy in England under the leadership of MS Dhoni. India will want to do well in front of loyal home fans and also end the 9-year drought without a world title.
When it comes to Rahul in the ODI format, he would most likely perform a dual role for India where he would be asked to keep wickets and also bat in the middle order. The right-handed batter has batted in the top order as well as in the middle order as per the team’s requirements in the past. It will interesting to see how team India will use him in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Next day Flash News: KL Rahul injured during Training session. He will get treatment and be available for IPL 2024 …— Sugu (@tweetsbysugu) July 17, 2023
i feel whether it is ok to take players recovering from injury to wc? We have seen how bad it went with jofra. Having under recovery players like klr, bumrah, iyer who would be struggling with form initially into the wc 2.5 months after now is not a good idea.
