Not Babar Azam, but this Pakistan player can be the number one batter according to Rashid Latif

Pakistan enjoyed a good home series win over West Indies by clean sweeping them in three ODI matches. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, opener Imam-ul-Haq, and all-rounder Shadab Khan were the stars of that series who ensured this series victory. During this series, Babar became the first batter to score nine 50+scores on a trot across all formats and the fastest player to cross the 1000-mark run as a captain (13 innings).

However, Imam-ul-Haq was been declared the player of the series for scoring 199 runs in three innings at an average of 66.33. He scored consecutive three 50+ scores in that series. Now, former Pakistan legend Rashid Latif came up with support for him and expressed his view on this batter’s performance.

“He can become number one batter of the world” – Rashid Latif

Rashid said that Imam can become the number one batter in the world if he can continue to score runs with consistency. He said: “Imam-Ul-Haq can become the number one batter of the world in the future if he kept scoring with the same consistency.” A Pakistan journalist shared the same statement on his official Twitter account.

Here is the Tweet:

Imam-ul-Haq has been playing brilliantly in the ODI format in recent times. In his last 10 ODI innings, he has scored six 50+ scores and two hundred against teams like West Indies, Australia, England, and South Africa. Even, in the ongoing Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, he is the second-highest scorer after his skipper, Babar Azam. Since 2020, he managed to score 797 runs in 15 innings at an average of 56.92. Imam scored eighth 50+ scores and two hundred during this time period.

His consistency earned him a second spot in the Men’s ranking for ODI batters with 815 ratings. He leapfrogged former India captain, Virat Kohli who is now pushed to no.3 with 811 ratings. Imam will be in action again as Pakistan is scheduled to face the Dutch in the Netherlands in a three-match ODI series, starting on 16 Aug 2022.
