‘Not to take abuse from anyone’ – Naveen-Ul-Haq responds to fight with Virat Kohli during IPL 2023 game
In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs at the iconic Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Despite the win, and how important it was for Royal Challengers Bangalore at this point in the IPL 2023 season, the talk centred on the fight that erupted after the match between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli.
But what began during the game was only continued during the on-field face-off. A confrontation between Kohli and LSG’s Naveen-ul-Haq near the end of the game left the latter enraged. He eventually expressed to a teammate in the dressing room his true feelings about the circumstance and Kohli.
As reported by Indian Express after the ugly incident, Naveen-Ul-Haq told one of his LSG teammates, “I have come here to play in the IPL, not to take abuse from anyone.” Notably, the incident which started on the field during the game later became such a big issue that almost every player got agitated.
IPL fined Virat Kohli and Naveen-Ul-Haq for breaching the code of conduct
The incident started in the 17th over of the Chase when Kohli started indulging in a verbal spat. Kohli began the encounter by saying something to Naveen before pointing his shoes towards the Afghani player. The Afghanistan star was enraged as he charged towards the former RCB captain.
Following the match, the two exchanged an aggressive handshake before Naveen said a few words. Kohli ignored it and moved on, but Naveen persisted. Kohli then came to a halt and responded vocally. Glenn Maxwell intervened and separated the two before things became too heated. However, further, it was exaggerated as LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir and batter Kyle Mayers also got involved in the banter.
However, IPL fined Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir and Naveen-Ul-Haq for breaching the code of conduct. Gambhir and Kohli lost 100% of the match fees while Naveen had to lose 50% of the charge. However, that didn’t end on the field as both Kohli and Naveen put a cryptic post on social media on Tuesday.
