The skipper of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam is considered one of the greatest batters in the modern era of cricket. Experts of the game pitch that by the end of his career he will be the sitting pretty over a plethora of records. He is on the verge of achieving one such feat.

Babar Azam is all set to become the 11th Pakistani batter to score 10,000 runs in international cricket. He will get a chance to achieve the milestone during the three-match ODI series against West Indies. The series is scheduled to begin on 8th June, Wednesday at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Babar has played 200 matches in the international across all formats in his career so far. He has amassed 9798 runs in these matches at an average of 50.76. Babar has 23 centuries and 65 half-centuries under his belt during this time.

Speaking of the Pakistani batters to have scored more than 10,000 runs in international cricket, the list comprises some of the legends of the game. The other players on the list are- Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Javed Miandad, Saleem Malik, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, and Misbah-ul-Haq.

The legendary Pakistani batter Inzamam-ul-Haq is the only batter in this elite list to have scored over 20,000 runs in international cricket.

Babar Azam in the meanwhile looked excited to play in the upcoming three-match ODI series. While the matches in Multan are expected to be witnessed by a jam-packed audience, Babar thinks that the fans will welcome international cricket in Pakistan with excitement and joy.

“It is a really exciting moment for me to lead Pakistan in Multan for this all-important series. Multan is home to passionate cricket fans and it is great to be here. I am looking forward to the fans cheering the return of international cricket after a lengthy gap, and I am sure they will get to see some great cricket at the beautiful Multan Cricket Stadium,”- said Babar as quoted by India Today.
