‘Punjabiyan di balle balle baki sab thalle thalle’ – Fans react as Punjab Kings defeat Delhi Capitals by 31 runs in IPL 2023

After losing the last fixture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC) locked horns with Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitely Stadium, in Delhi on Saturday, May 13. Punjab won the match by 31 runs and their opener, Prabhsimran Singh was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance.

If we talk about the encounter, DC skipper, David Warner won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors while batting first scored a total of 167 runs with the loss of seven wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was Prabhsimran, who scored 103 runs off 65 balls with 10 fours and six sixes in his innings. The pick of the bowler for DC was Ishant Sharma who snapped two wickets in his spell of four overs where he conceded 27 runs in his spell.

Capitals while chasing 168 runs, were able to score only 136 runs with the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for the team was Warner, who scored 54 runs from 27 balls with 10 fours and a six. The pick of the bowler for PBKS was Harpreet Brar, who grabbed four wickets in his spell of four overs where he conceded 30 runs in his spell.

“We lost a few wickets at the top, so the plan was to take the game a little deep. I have been with the team for a long time and when you get back-to-back opportunities you gotta grab it. The wicket was slightly tough at the start and the plan was to build some partnership and then target a few bowlers. I also speak to senior players who keep telling me to make sure that I take the game deep and make it big when I get a start. Really thankful to the management for the opportunities,” Prabhsimran was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
