‘Pura Kaam Bigar Dia Dono Ne’ – Fans Go Berserk As Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar Display Quality Bowling Against South Africa

After winning the three-match T20I series at home against the current World Champions in the shortest format of the game, India kicked off their three-match T20I series against South Africa on 28 September 2022. They took on the Proteas in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala for the series opener. However, India dealt with a major blow just before the match. The Indian Cricket Board confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of the match. 

He felt back pain during practice sessions on 27 September. Hence, the team decided not to go with him. Meanwhile, in this series, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not there as he reported to the NCA for strength and condition. Therefore, Rohit Sharma went with a new pair of opening bowlers, Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh.

Both Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar took five wickets in the first three overs of the match against South Africa

Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and the skipper opted to bowl first. Hence, Rohit gave the ball to Deepak Chahar for the first over. On the other hand, skipper Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock came out to open the inning. But, Deepak Chahar struck early as he dismissed the Protea skipper for 0 runs. It was a beautiful in-swinging delivery from Deepak that disturbed the furniture of Bavuma.  Then, in the next over, Arshdeep Singh came up to bowl. In that over, he grabbed three wickets South African batters had no clue against his swinging deliveries. 

He bowled out both Rilee Rossouw and David Miller. While de Kock chopped the ball into his stumps while trying to cut it. Then, again, Rohit brought Deepak Chahar and he took the wicket of Tristan Stubbs. Arshdeep Singh took a great catch while coming forward from the third man region. Therefore, South Africa were struggling after scoring only 14 runs in three overs for five wickets. Therefore, fans went berserk after seeing such a performance from these two bowlers.
