A verbal spat between captain Babar Azam and pace sensation Shaheen Afridi has been the centre of attention for the Pakistan cricket team for the past few days. Several reports claim that things are not good between Pakistan’s top pair after losing to Sri Lanka in the Super Fours which saw them out of the 2023 Asia Cup. However, recent pictures doing the rounds on social media rubbish all such rumours and show that everything is positive in the Pakistan camp ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Star pacer Shaheen got married to the daughter of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Tuesday in an intimate ceremony. Amid reports of a rift between Babar and Shaheen, the two got clicked hugging each other with all smiles. The Pakistan captain also took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account to wish his teammate “congratulations”. Earlier on Tuesday, the left-arm pacer also posted a photo with Babar with the caption “Family”. Positive vibes in Pakistan camp ahead of 2023 World Cup
Rumours that the two are not on good terms emerged when it was learned that Babar expressed his displeasure with the performance of the senior players in the match against Sri Lanka. Shaheen wasn’t impressed with the skipper’s dressing room talk and asked him to at least praise those who did well.
A senior member of the Pakistan men’s cricket team also quashed reports of a verbal altercation between them. “The team’s sole focus is on cricket, and we are not concerned about the critics. Losing a match gives our critics an opportunity to voice their opinions, but these are merely negative speculations,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
