After Virat Kohli’s departure from the captaincy duties, the Indian selectors appointed Rohit Sharma as the new leader for all three formats of the game. Rohit Sharma has proved himself over the years in the shortest format. Therefore, fans were also eager to consider him as the leader of the team.

Meanwhile, India has enjoyed a good run of winning series under Rohit Sharma till now, especially in the T20I format. Therefore, fans are looking forward to major titles like the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. However, now the Indian Cricket Board President Sourav Ganguly opened up about his views regarding Rohit Sharma’s captaincy style.

“Rohit Sharma is obviously a bit laid back” – Sourav Ganguly

Speaking during the Bengal Paarlee event, Sourav Ganguly shared that Rohit Sharma is a bit, laid-back captain. He also said that Rohit takes all the things in a calm and cautious way than others. He said: “Rohit Sharma is obviously a bit laid back who takes things in a very calm and cautious way and not someone who’s into your face all the time.”

Ganguly also added that Rohit Sharma will do well. Positive results will come out for India. He also urged fans to give some time to get settled. “We give responsibility to someone, then we want him to do the things the way we want it, and I think that’s not correct. When you back someone let him captain, give him a bit of time to give results, and then see what happens.” Sourav Ganguly concluded.

Speaking of Rohit Sharma’s next assignments, he will lead India in the next edition of the Asia Cup. The tournament is going to start on 27 August 2022. However, India will face arch-rivals Pakistan on 28 August to kick off their campaign this time around. Followed by this tournament, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma when he will lead India in the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
