India defeats West Indies by 200 runs to seal the ODI series 2-1 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. It was an all-round show for the Men in Blue with openers, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan laying the foundation, and then Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya delivered scorching knocks to help India to a massive total of 351/5. It also happened to be their highest score in the Caribbean Island in the ODI format.

West Indies skipper Shai Hope won the toss and chose to bowl in the third One-Day International at the Brian Lara Stadium on Tuesday. Hardik Pandya led India once more, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both sitting out. The Men in Blue have made two changes to their roster, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jaydev Unadkat replacing Axar Patel and Umran Malik.

An all-round performance by Men in Blue

Being put into bat first, Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill started off aggressively with India scoring 143 in 19.4 overs. The Jharkhand keeper finished with 77 off 64 balls and Gill scored 85 off 92 balls. Ruturaj Gaikwad could not make an impact as he edged off Alzarri Joseph’s ball to first slip for just 8 runs.

Hardik was unbeaten at 70 while Samson slammed 51 off just 41 deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav, batting at No. 6, displayed his T20 efficiency. He made 35 from 30 balls, including sixes on each side of the wicket behind the square. For the hosts, Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets. For the visitors, Shardul Thakur took four wickets and Kuldeep Yadav had two dismissals.

While Mukesh Kumar made the early breakthroughs by getting the wickets of Brandon King, Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers. Jaydev Unadkat, playing his first ODI in almost ten years, took just five balls to take a wicket, as he got Carty to edge one to the right of the first slip where Gill took a low catch. The Windies were never in the game. Joseph and Motie kept the Indian bowlers at bay for close to ten overs before Thakur bounced out Joseph.
