Shahid Afridi insists Mohammad Rizwan to learn a thing or two from in-form Indian batter
Suryakumar Yadav is having a dream maiden World Cup appearance with the bat in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. He is only 21 runs behind Virat Kohli’s (246 runs) tally of runs in the tournament. Apart from the rare failure against Pakistan, he has dominated the bowling attacks of various teams. On the other hand, Mohammad Rizwan hasn’t been at his best in the tournament. He has managed only 102 runs so far.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan Shahid Afridi skipper spoke about Yadav and Rizwan’s knocks on November 6. On this day, Pakistan played against Bangladesh while India played against Zimbabwe. In both games, Rizwan and Yadav played important innings. The only difference was that the former dominated the opposition bowling while the Pakistan wicketkeeper batter huffed and puffed his way. Afridi has criticized Rizwan’s batting approach.
Suryakumar Yadav knows his game very well: Shahid Afridi
During a conversation with Samaa TV, the 2009 20-20 World Cup winner was reminded of Rizwan’s statement about working on his game. The latter also reminded Afridi about how Rizwan didn’t pay heed to the advice and also asked if Rizwan can learn a thing or two from Yadav.
To which Afridi replied by saying, “Bilkul theek kaha. Sabse important cheez jo mention huya hai ki 200-250 domestic matches khel ke woh India team main aaya hai. Uss ladke ko apni game ka pata hai. Jitni bhi shotein marta hai woh achi ball o pe bhi maarta hai because uss cheez ki usne practice ki hai. Jitni skill aapke paas hogi utne ache impact wale player aap honge. Toh apko shots develop karne parenge, yeh format hi waisa hai (You are absolutely right. The most important thing about Suryakumar is that he played 200-250 matches in domestic circuit before coming to international cricket. He knows his game. And he can target the good balls as well because he practices those shots. In this format, you need to evolve as a batter and develop your game).
