When Punjab Kings were trying to pull off a memorable chase against Chennai Super Kings in match number 40 of IPL 2023 at the M.A. Chidambaram, an incident took place in the pen ultimate over of the match which caught the attention of the fans.

Chasing 201 runs, Jitesh Sharma was taking charge for PBKS as hr smashed 21 runs off 10 balls. However, in the fourth ball of the 19th over, He tried to smash the slower one by Tushar Deshpande toward long on. Shaik Rasheed did no mistake in grabbing the ball but lost his balance after taking the catch and fell down just near the boundary rope. At first, it was looking like his foot touched the rope and it was a six.

When the decision went to the third umpire, he also couldn’t come to any conclusive evidence even after watching from different camera angles. At last, Jitesh was given caught out. However, it didn’t end in CSK’s favour as PBKS chased the winning total on the last ball of the match ot register a thrilling victory.

PBKS pulled off a thrilling chase against CSK

Talking about the match summary, CSK posted a total of 200 runs for the 4 wickets, powered by the 92-run knock by Devon Conway. The Kiwi batter remained unbeaten after playing 52 balls hitting 16 fours and one six. While the skipper MS Dhoni added the finishing touches by hitting consecutive sixes on the last two balls off the innings as CSK reached 200 runs. For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Chahar, Sam Curran and Sikandar Raza shared a wicket each.

Chasing 201 runs, PBKS had a flying start as the skipper Shikhar Dhawan (28 off 15) and Prabhsimran Singh (42 off 24) added 50 runs for the first wicket in 4.2 overs. After that, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran took charge in the middle overs by putting up a partnership of 57 runs for the fourth wicket. Livingstone got out after scoring 40 off 24 balls with one four and four sixes. While Curran scored 29 off 20 with one four and a maximum.

The match went down to the last ball of the last over with PBKS needing 3 runs. Sikandar Raza pulls the short-length delivery by Matheesha Pathirana over the backward square leg and successfully completed three runs along with Shahrukh Khan on the other end to give PBKS a thrilling victory over CSK at their own backyard. For CSK, Tushar Deshpande scalped 3 wickets, Ravindra Jadeja took 2, while Pathirana put 1 in his bag.
